My colleagues and I took the opportunity to globalize a local story by covering No Kings protests in Washington, DC, while on an awards trip for the American Collegiate Press. Before leaving, I assigned multiple staff members to cover photo and video in Iowa City while I photographed in DC. Once I was back in Iowa City, I worked on designing an engaging print front and double-truck to support our digital package, which included a film and two graphics. This experience helped me further my news judgment and taught me the value of forward planning on everyday assignments. Our digital coverage can be viewed here.
